My Hunting with the Zigzag Drawing (TM)

In places never cultivated, this seems a better explanation for zigzag rows than the “thrown up against a snake fence” idea. This based on observation of the old wood road to the mill, from the old mast forest resource zone on the hill to the west of my house, based on the old maps and existing wood roads, as well as actual stone rows.

All that’s missing is Turtle One at the kill site…

And the Lace wall detail: You can peek out of the holes while you hide behind the stone row. You can sit down while you wait. I’ve seen rows four feet high that suddenly have six foot “waves” in them. My guess is that Grandpa had a bad back and preferred to stand behind the wall rather than crouch because it was more comfortable…
