This site is east of the Brown Road near a brook. You can see these piles from the road:
And if you explore down in there, there is a tumble that could be a collapsed something (we had chambers on the mind) and there are also several simple piles:
Friend in the background is rocking the stone. Here are details of the foreground pile:
and of the rocking stone:We went back to the car after a bit more exploration on the other side of the wetland. Hereis a view of the wetland with an interesting stone wall feaure:
Notice all the trees fallen on the piles in the pictures above. What with one thing and another it is not easy to get a sense of the characteristics of this site. But neither was it easy for the hilltop sites I wanted to compare it to. One difference you can see, in spite of the damage, is that the hilltop site had ground piles as well as numerous rock-on-rocks. This site has piles built up on support boulders and the only rock-on-rock was the rocking stone above.
I think it is fair to say that these are "different" types of sites - the hilltop ones and this one. I want to say this is a "brookside" site but I'll need to go find other examples to make the point.
Hey what a great site keep up the work its excellent.
