This might have been a rock pile.I imagine the woods I was in were a popular picnic spot in the early 1900's. Not much left from that.
This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.
I guess I should say these are from Lowell/Dracut State Forest. Not a particularly wise choice for a Sunday walk - too near a major city.
