Found one pile today:
This is north of Brick Kiln Rd - somewhere behind the high school. I doubt I could find the place again.
This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.
Just from this picture I find it easy to imagine people walking around this area in the distant past. Take away all the hardwoods, underbrush, and leaf litter, maybe add a few towering conifers, and this is a strikingly attractive place. Nice photo.
