First day here we had a great day in the Tonto Basin and could not get shut of Sedona fast enough - fun trying to come up with the right turn of phrase for that place. Something like: a strip mall set against the most beautiful background imaginable. Tomorrow - Grand Canyon. I did see one rock pile but it was suspicious. I'll write about it later.
Jim P: we were in a hurry to get out of Phoenix but we'll be back next weekend, hope to make some plan then.

I hope you're not roasting -- it's only a 100 degrees.
Look forward to seeing you.
My wife and I were driving north on I 17 out of Phoenix, and I noticed something white and unusual looking off the road in Agua Fria National Monument. Driving on a dirt road to the spot, I discovered that what caught my attention were two large horseshoe-shaped petroforms made of quartz, pointing generally east.
After studying them for a while, I came to the conclusion they were probably New Age. We were only a short distance from Sedona, the heart of New Age country, where there is lots of stonework to play havoc on the mind.
