The ceremonial landscape as it is today - more from Norfolk CT

As we drove up the road after visiting the first site, we saw rock piles at four other places. After the first, we saw several piles from the road on a slope facing northwest and leading down into the ferns.
Sorry for the blurry picture. Note the pile in the foreground has the tell-tale cream/white cobble. More details of some piles closer to the ferns:(The same light colored quartzite is visible just left of center.)

Continuing the drive we passed a solitary rock pile next to a small gully, but under the hemlocks it was too dark to get a good picture.

At another place there were three structures lined up somewhat parallel to the road but 10 yards back from the road.
Although it was a pretty spot in the woods, I wonder if this line of three structures might have marked an earlier path?

Here was a solitary rock pile somewhere else in there:So there are lots of rock piles. One question is: are there more piles along the road than in the woods at random?
