This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

Birch root shaped like an elephant
FFC called my attention to this as we passed: According to him, a tree falls over leaving a root mass, from which springs a birch tree, then most of the original root mass decays, leaving the new tree's roots in the air.
