[Not rock pile related]A bit like the French delicacy. This is the second time I saw this kind recently. My Father taught us about the more common mushrooms but I never saw this kind before.

This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

I found some on a subsequent hike, brought them home, fried them in butter and they turned into what looked like and tasted like little bits of black rubber. Yuck. Maybe it depends on what they were growing in. These were growing under white pines.
