I am afraid it could not get any worse. A few crooks and ...that's it: no more archeology.
This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.
What is not explained in the report or the newspaper article commenting on it is why Crouse returned to examine the mound a second time. What communication, I wonder, went on between the town, Walmart and the archaeologist after the first report was submitted.
