"...80 acres of stone mounds..."
This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.
Gresham remarks having opened 100 stone mounds and found nothing to suggest they were Indian. Just because nothing was found in them doesn't imply they're colonial. Indian commemorative piles are often barren of artifacts, too.
