This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

Blog birthday
I missed it on January 16th. This blog is now 7 years old.....Yay!
Happy birthday Rock Piles. I enjoy reading this blog daily, as well as Turtle Island. Is Larry Harrop still blogging? The format on his blog has changed and it does not appear new posts are being made. dc
Larry has given up blogging. He was having trouble getting around and no one seemed to care for his site (too few checking in),so he gave it up. He had an unusual sense of where to find interesting sites in little RI, and many of these were far off the the beaten track. I had the opportunity to accompany him on a half dozen or so excursions, which opened my eyes to the richness of Indian stonework that unfortunately so many archaeologists dismiss.
I guess this means that for 7 Yrs now, I look to see what's new on Rock Piles before checking my email just about every morning. Thefirst link I usually go to is Larry's. I've got a great deal of respect for both Peter and Larry for their great efforts to document their finds...

ReplyDeleteHow about a special shout out to Tim MacSweeney, whose contributions make the place more interesting. Thanks Tim.
