I showed this the other day but with better light got a better picture. An interesting structure across from the Reservoir on Piper Rd:
This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.
I'm trying to figure out where the stone mound is located. It looks like there is something on top, and also perhaps on the left side. Which is it?
ReplyDeleteIt is filling in all of the top and front. I think originally the boulder had a "V" in it, filled now by the retaining wall. But the sides are, I think, original boulder.
ReplyDeleteGiven the amount of moss covering the rock, I assume this feature must be near water, which makes it look very old.
