This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

I am so ambivalent about this article. On the one hand, it provides information about the Adena in the mid-Atlantic. On the other, it encourages/entices relic hunters to dig up burial sites.
It reminds the general reader that the Americas were widely populated long before the Europeans, but it also makes their culture a collector's curiosity. Any sense that the Pig Point site was a special/sacred place in the natural world long ago is removed.
