A new book published by Mark Starr, Ceremonial Stonework I'm sure would be of interest to the readers of your blog.
This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.
This looks interesting. I checked it out and I ordered it on Amazon. I just hope he has documented, location, topo, etc. all of these sites. It would be a great resource, particularly for serious researchers in his area. Looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteI have the book. There are 270 excellent color photos illustrating the variety of possible Indian stone features found just in Stonington, CT (of some . No location or topo map provided. There is a well written introduction that discusses the various types of features, and the organization of the photos reflects this.
