On a Snowy Back Road (Roxbury CT)

Perched Boulder on another boulder behind a row of stones that I wouldn't have noticed at a different time of year but was quite noticeable because of the snow...
A Serpent-like Row of Stones along the spine of a big outcrop of stone behind someone's house:
The head possibly a combination of boulders and cobbles...
...snow in the shadow of the "eye" of the Stone (suspected) Serpent.
A variation of this "style" of construction, such as in this one:
A stone for an eye is a "positive eye," as below, while an empty socket is a "negative eye?"

One for Tommy Hudson - a row of stones connected to a rocky hillside that has probably never known a plow, a large triangular boulder perhaps the head of a Serpent (bottom right hand corner):

  1. Picture 6 of 9 looks like a double snakes head. One on top of the other. I have noticed this before in serpent's rows. Sometimes multiple snakes from different angles, and the same goes for some turtle's cairns/ mounds. However, there seems to be a "mother" or progenitor, such as the biggest and largest head of the snake when there are multiple.

  2. Matt: This "multiple snakes" thing is something I've gradually become more and more aware of in the last couple years. The larger Serpent is made of many smaller snakes (and an actual eastern timber rattler "live births" it's young - doesn't lay eggs like some snakes do). And there are other effigies in there too, along with the scale-like more or less anatomically correct scales and diamond-like markings. Did you notice the relatively large rhomboidal stone just behind the head?

  4. ah-ha. I now see the significance of the rhomboidal shaped stones you have been keen to point out! Thanks!
