This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

I like how all the stone walls are easily explained as being related to the Merino Sheep Craze of 1810-1845. Obviously the snake like heads found on many of them would cause the sheep to behave themselves...
ReplyDeleteI was astounded that they seem so confident the walls were built for sheep farming; in a period of thirty years. What dating technology do they have that no one else has?

ReplyDeleteThere is no question these guys are experts in interpreting the plant/landscape connections. But they are utterly blind to the stonework they are casually standing on.
