Susquehanna River Archaeological Center of Native Indian Studies (SRAC) recently posted about Spanish Hill. That article was published as the lead article in the New York State Archaeological Society's Newsletter. I enjoyed reading about Spanish Hill.
ReplyDeleteSpanish Hill. Me too. Fascinating. dc.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the image from the 1881 map of “Ancient Earthworks East of the Mississippi”. It's sad, how many of them have disappeared.
ReplyDeleteGoogle books is just full of free full versions of the works of ARTHUR CASWELL PARKER mentioned in the text. I suspect some interesting things contained in them. Notice I didn't ask if it should be called Mayan Hill...
ReplyDeleteLeveled hilltops, such as at Spanish Hill, are quite common for Mayan sites.
ReplyDeleteExample: Xunantunich in Belize.
