Near the Western Hills Golf Course - near Park Road in Waterbury (or possibly Middlebury) CT
It was once part of a Deer Park I wonder about sometimes: http://wakinguponturtleisland.blogspot.com/2008/01/im-still-wondering.html
This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.
I recall now that I wanted to add that this mound had a sort of tail, a bit of low stones, that linked it to the edge of an outcrop with sort of a small gully between it and another bunch of outcrop, rather a rare thing.
ReplyDeleteThe tail is just barely visible in the 3rd photo, framed by the fallen branches at the mound's upper right. The branches with leaves obsure the gully behind and to the slight left and the outcrop edge on the right...
