This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

Rt 2 just west of Tracy's in Lincoln
Sink me if I didn't spot a pile by the road! A place I have driven past hundreds of times.
And within the season the highway department widened Rt 2 and took 'em out. Know then: there was a dip there, and a spring, and a bit of ceremony. The burial grounds to the east at the top of Hobbs Brook, the beehive to the west on Flint's Hill, this little spot between the two. Gone now, lost forever.
