And within the season the highway department widened Rt 2 and took 'em out. Know then: there was a dip there, and a spring, and a bit of ceremony. The burial grounds to the east at the top of Hobbs Brook, the beehive to the west on Flint's Hill, this little spot between the two. Gone now, lost forever.
