How long have you had bald eagles in your area? I suppose they must be nesting. We have had two pair in our area for four to five years now. They were nearly wiped out by DDT.
They are coming back slowly but steadily. I guess there are lots down where the Merrimack empties into the Atlantic - but they are only recently getting common on the inland rivers. My frequency of seeing them has gone from: never, to once, to once in three years, to once a year.
