This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.
Fascinating and tantalizing photo with that triangular stone in front. One could interpret this as a manitou stone, or perhaps the delta shape could refer to something else. Also, I wonder what's that sticking up in back of the cairn? There must be more in the vicinity of this one cairn.
There is a lot more. The discoverer wants to protect the location.
Classic Niantic style with triangle symbolism. Beauty!
Looking at the enlargement of the image, that triangular piece in the center of the cairn looks very mechanical, as though it is a fragment of an architectural piece. Is it?
Hi everyone,The cairn pic with the triangular center stone was taken by me last year.Anyway, I do have a close-up shot of the tri-cornered stone. In real time you can see fine chiselmarks.I,m new to this blogging...how would I post pics? Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.Dennis
Dennis,I'm not familiar with posting photos. I suggest you send an e-mail to Peter Waxman with the photo attached and then he can post it.
