This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

Nice. Thanks for posting this Tim.
Giant City Park is a great place to visit. ESRARA held it's rock art meeting there in 2011 (?) and I gave a presentation on stone constructions. The ridge where these walls are located is a unique feature on the landscape and I'm not surprised the walls would be there. It's a prominent place to build them. There's a spring close by that I thought might be important.
Lots of interesting images when you plug "Giant City Park" into the search field. Like this trail sign about a 285 Ft. Prehistoric (Late Woodland Period) Stonewall: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3937/15505917157_4d3c401b67_b.jpg
I even ended up at a Rock Pile Mountain (in Arkansas), with more Late Woodland Period stonewalls, trying out stone fort: http://www.localtrekshiking.com/2014/11/giant-city-state-park-stonefort-nature.html#.VdxMpPlVhBc
I gave a report on the Illinois Stonewalls at The 2014 ESRARA meeting at Natural Bridge State Park. By the way that is me in the video clip, southern Illinois is blessed with these sites.
