I vegetated over Thanksgiving. Got out with my son, though:
And showed him some of my favorite things.
Perhaps a view from another direction would be helpful:

This also appears to be a long line of stacked small boulders and stones that terminate at a bedrock outcrop. This is similar to several sites here in the southeast. Also, Philip Smith's report shows several sites that end at, or connect, bedrock outcrops. Does the bedrock represent a serpent head, or is a serpent emanating from the bedrock of the underworld? Could be both, depending on the occasion or spiritual need. Sorry, I copied this from my comment on previous post, but feel it is an even better examaple. You heard it here first. ;-)
Note the spots that would correspond to an actual rattlesnake head on the large boulder; nostril, "pit," and maybe an eye. The cobbles behind the boulder are rhomboidal or diamond shaped, stacked to further mimic the marking pattern of that sort of snake. Does that larger cobble by the head have a quartz rhomboid on it??

Where is this? It almost looks like a photo from Mark Starr's new book.
