This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.
All examples are marginally in the "effigy" category - including the pile with black/white color rocks in the middle.
I'm glad you noticed the black/white stones. It happens here and there - there's as similar combination and placement I noticed in the last year or two at a spot along one of the rows of stones in my yard. I used an image from 1960-something of the area at http://rockpiles.blogspot.com/2010/11/volvo-car-lot-edge.htmlThis is the Hamburger Edge of Watertown CT where I roamed the woodlands as a kid.
