I wonder how common turtles are in California. Probably not very.
On the modern over-grazed cultural landscape, very few. On the ancient humanized landscape, before 1492, I'd guess "lots more." There were lots more people living there too way back then...
Tim, it is going to catch up with you if you start seeing too many turtles in the Irish and European scenes. We can be pretty comfortable thinking they did not revere the turtle.
I thought this was in California...
I meant in reference to future pictures. Coincidentally, ones from Germany showed up within a few days of my comment.
