Quartzite on Cairn

From Norman Muller:
Attached is a photo of a cairn from Woodstock, NY, showing
a piece of quartzite on top. Your VA respondant asked whether there was quartz on the cairns I posted images of.

Gosh, all those colonial farmers taking time to carefully build agriculturally useless piles of rocks for aesthetic purposes and place single pieces of white quartz in each one of them for some apparent aesthetic reason. And colonial farmers did this from Western Pennsylvania to the Atlantic, and from Georgia to Maine.
