This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

We had a post that mentioned these a few years ago, but it was me flogging my tiresome theories. Haha. Anyway, here it is. http://rockpiles.blogspot.com/2007/09/stone-mounds-for-vision-quest.html
It's good that now you have a post that's just about the mounds.
The "mound" is really a cairn, a pile of rocks, and trail to it is closed as of early September, 2012. The forest service has covered the trail with logs and blocked access from the bridge over the creek. There may be other ways of getting there but the climb would be difficult.
It's still really easy to get to. There's just not much to look at. There is a nice sitting rock with a lovely view though! 😊
I have visited this s place a few time before the massive mud slides happened. I believe that is why the forest service has blocked access because it's too unstable, no more clear trail to follow. Even when there was a trail it was not for sissies! It is a real shame it's gone because it was such a magical place! I have very fond memories of going there!
History is being covered up nothing to do with protection of an area. Sacred site. The area is known for more than one massacre. Cemetery nearby. Bless.
