A wave of migratory songbirds passed by my yard Sunday afternoon - including kingbirds, house finches, and these iridescent blue bluebirds. They were all feeding on something that had just hatched.
Here is a female: olive, rust, and violet colored.
What a treat.

A biologist I know says these are not migratory birds but rather a "mixed flock" that winter together.
