This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

Not sure this is for corn grinding, since it is not smooth on the interior. Also not sure why there is fresh clay around the edges.
Soapstone? Cooking?
It looks like a basin to catch run-off from a spring or perhaps a roof gutter. Note the grove to one side.
