In the overhead view, the two outlines are places where I already found rock piles. Any guesses as to where I should plan on going next? Yes, that little bit of woods on the north side of the highway. Wish me luck.
This is about rock piles and stone mound sites in New England. A balance is needed between keeping them secret and making them public. Also arrowheads, stone tools and other surface archaeology.

I was wrong. The only things north of the the road were two rock on rocks and a curious boulder arrangement or two.
recently (this is a year later) I got stuck in traffic southbound where I could get a good look at the site in the median. I tell you that is a complex little ceremonial site with a number of different types of features. It is well protected where it is. But if you live in Tewksbury and want to detail the neighborhood, find some way out to this "island" in the traffic stream.
