A comment about Tim M's zig-zag stone walls
Norman Muller and I once visited Tim in Connecticut in the town of Nonnewaug. We had a great tour and, for me, the most impressive thing was the miles and miles of zig-zag stone walls. There is more information coming about these peculiar walls. The question is going to be: were they just built to support a standard split-rail fence - which naturally zig-zags, or are they more? We'll see what Tim reports about them.
