From the Journals - Indian Mortars

Something a bit more traditional archeological: I was emailing with Norman Muller and mentioned some Indian mortars we (Jic, Bruce, and I) found while exploring Billerica Town Forest. The forest consists of a hill east of Rt 3 between Treble Cove and Rangeway Rd, in Billerica. The boulder is near the top of the hill, on the western side. I can imagine someone in Billerica knows or knew about these but I doubt many people know about them. Too bad because this is a rare and beautiful thing. We found no rock piles on this hill but there was an interesting inscription on another boulder near the foot of the western side of the hill: a memorial to....I forget who. Check it out sometime.
