Frank's photos of the pedestaled boulder are fascinating. As for the heavily fractured stone underneath one of the support stones, I would assume it began to fracture AFTER the support stone was placed. But what kind of stone is underneath that fractured like that?
It seemed like a kind of gneiss, re-metamorphosed granite that was a little sparkly.
I meant simply: metamorphosed (no "re-")
