My impression is that an undulating Stone Snake borders the path up to the mountain top. This capture shows the height of the wall on the lower side , the soil build up over time on the other -but with a well worn path, also made over a long period of time...

Tim, It’s good to see that young guy getting involved with this research. You can hear him talking through the possibilities and related questions as he videos the features. I see site attributes in the NE Appalachians that are similar to sites here at the southern end. Iroquoian groups moved from north to south along the Appalachians and are the ancestors of the Cherokee and some Creek groups (Mooney, Myths of the Cherokee, 182 to 184). That could be the reason. Interesting stuff, I can’t get enough of it. I’d like to find out more about petroglyphs in the NE, but there seems to be a dearth of info, or maybe a dearth of sites. You know of any, or a good source? Tommy
