looking at this PWAX photo above for 5 and a half years now.
Not all the time for
5 and a half years of course, but every once in a while. The image comes up on
my screen saver, but I also open the photo up every now and then, just to view
it as a large image. I was just looking at it again:

Can we repeat this observation on other walls that contain quartz?
It seems this is something testable: quartz found adjacent to serpents "hidden" in a wall. I'll keep a lookout for that.
[I went and searched images for "quartz stone wall rock piles". Saw maybe one other example of a possible snake head next to a isolated chunk of quartz in a wall.]
When I did my first road trip in 2012, I was shown a rock wall on the outskirts of Philadelphia which was ENTIRELY made of quartz. There were some associated stone structures as well.

There are several sites in North Georgia where quartz stones are incorporated into the petroform. One site south of Atlanta has several stone piles made entirely of quartz. It's completely out of place compared to other stone constructions in the area. Another site, locared north of Atlanta, is in an area called Rampley Town. Several stone walls and a huge stone pile (approx 30' long x 12' wide and 7' high) are made entirely of quartz stones. The large pile is in the shape of a moth or butterfly in profile. (I have seven sites shaped this way.) Also, nearby are large quartz boulders that were used as quarries in the past. I've found several preforms and so much chippage, that it crunched as I walked around the boulders. Quartz was used as a portal to the spirit world, and as a way to communicate with ancestors (Mooney). A quartz stone in a wall may be the place where the wall can be "entered" in order to do spiritual work. Oddley placed stones of any kind have always interested me. Perhaps, this is so the stone can be easily found and removed, thereby providing an opening to the spirit world. After the spiritual work is done, the stone would be replaced. BTW, I've been absent from this site for a couple of months, due to computer issues that are too detailed to go into. Good to be back, and I'm getting caught up
