Aperture Pile from Weston, MA

This pile is from a different small hill in the wetland from the rest of the new site I found in Weston. The pile has a deliberate hole through it and, at the right moment, light could shine through it and across the flat surface of the larger rock to the side.

Who makes this kind of pile? I've been in Weston for a while and havent seen anything like this.

I believe some Native Americans still live around Boston and have, until recently, continued doing ceremonial constructions. On the other hand most of the piles at this site seem pretty old. My best guess is: contact period Indians.
